In 1990, South Africa stood on the cusp of transformation. The release of Nelson Mandela ignited hope, “Sekunjalo!”— Now is the time — this was more than a moment; it was a calling. Inspired by the promise of a new era, we commenced operations in 1999, with a vision to empower previously disadvantaged individuals and transform the water infrastructure industry.
Sekunjalo emerged as a trailblazer, as one of the first Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) companies in the sector, we didn’t just participate—we reshaped the landscape. Through strategic partnerships, starting with a five-year joint venture with Main Industries, and later with Greek company Petzetakis, ours grew into a trusted name.
The global financial crisis of 2007–2008 tested our resolve, as our partnership with Petzetakis ended amid economic challenges. Yet, the spirit of Sekunjalo—now is the time—endured. In 2015, the management team revived Sekunjalo Piping Projects with renewed purpose. We secured our warehouse and stock, hitting the ground running to rebuild a legacy.
Sekunjalo is more than a supplier of pipes and valves; it’s a beacon of opportunity. We’ve empowered countless previously disadvantaged individuals, providing pathways to higher vocations and inspiring many to launch their own companies. The piping industry today is filled with leaders who got their start at Sekunjalo, a testament to our commitment to uplifting communities. Our projects deliver not just infrastructure but dignity, ensuring clean water reaches municipalities and households across South Africa.
As a world-class African company, Sekunjalo delivers innovative, reliable solutions tailored to the continent’s unique needs. From our head office in Olifantsfontein to branches in North Riding, Polokwane, and planned expansions in Mpumalanga and KwaZulu-Natal, we are committed to quality, transparency, and efficiency. Through our effort every pipe laid, every project completed, reflects our dedication to excellence and our promise to deliver on time and within budget.
For over two decades, Sekunjalo Piping Projects has stood as a symbol of resilience, transformation, and trust. We’re not “Mafikizolo’s” (newcomers)—our roots trace back to the hope of 1990 and the courage of our early years. Today, led by a dynamic management we continue to build a legacy that honours our past while shaping a sustainable future. Partner with us, and let’s move water—and opportunity—forward, together.
